Reflecting Ireland - Looking Forward to 2026
As 2025 draws to a close, the latest issue of PTSB Reflecting Ireland focuses on how people are feeling about 2026.
AI adoption on the increase:
Although AI adoption is on the rise with 55% using it or planning to, concern about the impact of AI on job security is increasing. Among those under 25, 8 in 10 are very concerned (up from 66% in 2024) and among those in their parents age group (45-54s) 7 in 10 are very concerned (up from 64% in 2024).
Plans to cut back on screentime:
Half of us plan to cut back on screentime, and those under 25 plan to spend less time on social media and more time with family and friends in 2026.
The cost of living continues to worry us:
The high cost of living is one of the top 3 issues facing the country for 3 in 4 people. Many are responding by doing what they can to create a financial buffer; 7 in 10 save on a regular basis or whenever they can, mostly for ‘a rainy day’.
