Rising Energy Costs in Retail

It was great to join Sharon Yourell Lawlor of Think Plan Do Consulting, Pat Kane of Reuzi and Niamh Higgins of Tap Creative at the Retail Excellence Retail & Digital Retreat last Wednesday for a panel discussion on sustainability in retail. It is very clear that the unrelenting rise in energy costs is putting Irish retail businesses under serious pressure.  Although we can’t control the price of energy, we can alleviate some of the pressure by tapping into available supports, taking steps to maximise energy efficiency and opting for renewable energy sources where possible. Our Sustainable Irish Retail Action (SIRA) e-guide, a joint initiative between BehaviourWise and TPD Consulting, is a free resource that retailers can download from the Retail Excellence website. It provides practical advice on how to be more energy efficient in retail and it provides direct links to available supports from SEAI, Local Enterprise Offices and others. If you’re in retail and you’re concerned about energy costs, check out our SIRA e-guide at the link below:

A key step along the way to a circular economy is to segregate our waste properly, so that it can be reused, recycled or disposed of correctly. The latest issue of PTSB Reflecting Ireland explores the lives of women in Ireland today. As we approach a historic referendum on March 8th, International Women's Day, we look at four aspects of women's lives in Ireland: financial wellbeing, home life, work life and lifestyle & sport. Themes that emerge include the need for women to take more control over their long-term financial planning, evidence that behavioural patterns in the home are changing, a strong desire for gender equality in work and sport, and the importance of female role models in working and sporting life.
