Launch of Sustainable Irish Retail Action (SIRA) e-guide

Claire • 11 June 2022

We were delighted with the high turnout on Wednesday evening at the launch event for our SIRA (Sustainable Irish Retail Action) e-guide at Fallon & Byrne in Dublin. Thanks to our fantastic compere Sonya Lennon, our keynote speaker Mark Mellet and our panel of guest speakers Fiona Matthews of Applegreen, Patricia Macieira Kane of Reuzi, Tara Clifford of SuperValu and Alan Makim of AIB. A big thank you to our sponsors Vodafone, AIB, SuperValu and Tap Creative, and to our partners Retail Excellence and Champion Green.

The launch follows months of work by BehaviourWise and Sharon Yourell Lawlor of Think Plan Do Consulting. Our research revealed that retailers in Ireland are highly motivated to make their businesses as sustainable as possible, but as is often the case, there are obstacles to putting that good intention into practice (in behavioural science terms, there's an intention-action gap). Retailers told us they would find it really helpful to have on online ‘one-stop-shop’ where they could find practical information about how to be more sustainable and any supports available to them. In response we created our e-guide, which is packed full of advice, hints and tips, case studies and ideas, and provides links to supports and further information. It is designed to support retailers when they need to make business decisions by making the sustainable choice the easy one.  Download the e-guide from the Retail Excellence website at the link below.

The latest issue of PTSB Reflecting Ireland explores the lives of women in Ireland today. As we approach a historic referendum on March 8th, International Women's Day, we look at four aspects of women's lives in Ireland: financial wellbeing, home life, work life and lifestyle & sport. Themes that emerge include the need for women to take more control over their long-term financial planning, evidence that behavioural patterns in the home are changing, a strong desire for gender equality in work and sport, and the importance of female role models in working and sporting life.
